Rawan Maraqa is a Palestinian-Jordanian artist and visual communications graduate based in Amman, Jordan. Her work emerges from a fascination for consolation, coping, and the dialogue of comfort.
Working primarily through oil painting & calligraphy, she blends humor and sorrow, translating everyday Arabic phrases into bold, silly canvases that capture those quiet moments of reassurance.
She completed an artist residency in Berlin that culminated in an open studio, and held her first solo art show in Amman.
She treats consolation as something shared, built slowly through everyday phrases, small jokes, and quiet moments that people pass between each other. She’s interested in how simple Arabic phrases we say in hard times can hold so much feeling without needing big explanations.
